Last day of Feb 2009...
Last day of Feb 2009. 1/6 of the year is gone... O_o
It never fails to amaze me just how fast time goes by most of the time.
The cold has finally caught up with me. That explains a little why I couldn't think straight and wasn't making too much of a sense in class yesterday. But well, the kids were forgiving in that it was afterall the last lesson of the day anyway. Woke up this morning with a husky voice and stuffy nose. Thank goodness that the sore throat decided not to visit. It was straight to cough. :)
Thank goodness also that this has been pretty mild.
Hopped back to Singapore for less than 24hours last Tuesday and Wednesday. Stocked up on the 'blander' tasting foods and veggies before flying back. If I could teleport a hawker centre over to Jkt I would have. Haha, but too bad I couldn't and there was limited space in my tummy. Mum had to stop dad from over ordering for me. Awww... :P
Was tasked to bring back to Jkt some chao sao and kokok meats, which were very much appreciated by salivating friends. Finally saw the pood, and yes, there are now 4 undoglike dogs back in my house. One walking brown teddy bear and 3 tissue box covers in the house. Haha. But I finally have some dog like dogs to play fetch with in Jkt in the hostel where I am staying for now. Nice! That is when they do not pounce all over me. Hehe...
Indonesians love to talk and take life less seriously than the usual uptight Singaporeans. Of course that on the flip side one can say that they are less professional as the lines between work and personal stuffs are usually very much blurred. But as an expat, I will like to have people, especially locals to talk to at work. We learn more this way. The professionalism can be worried by the other higher position holders. I just do my part and enjoy the mix matching. Heheeheee... To take what is good of the Singapore system and infuse it into the the good of the Indonesian culture.
Can be mindboogling and frustrating at times, but wells I suppose this should be the way of the expats, as there will always be the flip side that is less desirable in any mode of doing stuffs. Time again to hunt that elusive balance point.
The theme is also recurring in my MT trainings... they are more lax, yes but more sociable... and wells it seems that they are upping the heat now that I showed that I wanted it to be. >:P Nice interaction... see how la...
(Hmmm, just realised how the recurring themes of my blog entries have shifted from angst to the search for balance... I guess it is a personal evolution to some sense...) Hohohohoho.
